If you have been on Internet marketing forums like Black Hat World, chances are there that you must have heard and read about SSLPrivateProxy and its services. Some claimed that their proxies work well for their use case, while others have mix feelings. For the untrained eye and mind, this is a source of confusion, and because of that, we have written this review on SSLPrivateProxy for intending customers to learn about their service and what to expect in the form of their weaknesses and strengths. Before going into the review proper, let take a look at an overview of SSLPrivateProxy.
SSLPrivateProxy is a premium private proxy provider. This company came into the market in 2012 and since its establishment, has grown to be one of the major players in the industry. They offer dedicated proxies and Virtual Private Networks (VPN), but the focus of this is strictly on their dedicated datacenter proxies. their proxies are secure, fast, and reliable. Among other things, their proxies work best for classified ads sites, social media, and e-commerce stores. However, they have some grey areas you need to be aware of, and this will be discussed later in the article.
This section of the article will discuss the good aspects of SSLPrivateProxy. As it turns out, SSLPrivateProxy has got a good number of aspects it stands firm. These strengths they have built all the years of their existence is what is keeping them competitive in the industry today.
Good Location Coverage and Proxy Pool Size
When it comes to location coverage, datacenter providers are not a match for residential proxy providers – they are slightly ineffective in providing proxies in many locations. In fact, most of the top datacenter proxies have proxy servers in less than 30 locations. For SSLPrivateProxy, they have proxy servers in 39 locations, out of which 34 of those locations are in North America (the United States and Canada). The other 5 locations are London (UK), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Madrid (Spain), Frankfurt Hessen (Deutschland), and VelizyVillacoublaylle-de-France (France).
Not only do they have good location coverage as per the American and European Union is concerned, but they also have a good number of proxies in their possession. SSLPrivateProxy has over 300,000 proxies in its pool of dedicated IP addresses they provide for their customers. Not many datacenter providers have up to this amount in the industry, and this becomes one of their competitive advantages.
Provision of Specialized Packages
If you glance through the SSLPrivateProxy website, you will notice that they offer both private proxies and shared proxies as well. Their private proxies are meant for general browsing activities. These proxies are not compatible with some specialized use cases like copping sneakers, social media management, and posting on classified ads sites. To provide support for these sites, SSLPrivateProxy introduced some special dedicated private proxies for this.
These include packages for Instagram proxies, Pinterest proxies, and classified Ads proxies. One thing you will discover on their website is that all these specialized packages are more expensive than the private proxies meant for general browsing with the most expensive being the Classified Ads Proxies. Also, worthy of mention is their shared proxies.
SSLPrivateProxy has shared proxies that sell at a lower price compared to the others mentioned. And one interesting thing about their shared proxies is that a proxy is shared by 3 people only.
Fast Download and Upload Speed
Proxies generally slow down the speed of one’s Internet connection and let face it, hardly would you get a proxy provider that can match the Internet speed you will get from your Internet Service Provider without using proxies – in theory, they abound but in practice, no!
Even with this, there are some providers that have proven to be a force to reckon within the industry as far as speed is concerned. One such provider is SSLPrivateProxy. I tested their proxies, and I got the result below.
Speed Test without proxy
- Ping: 11 ms
- Download Speed: 63.56 Mbps
- Upload Speed: 74.56 Mbps
Speed Test Using their Proxy
- Ping: 23 ms
- Download Speed: 51.12 Mbps
- Upload Speed: 34.43 Mbps
More SSL private proxy speed test result you can learn fromIf you look at the data presented above, you will agree with me that SSLPrivateProxy private proxies are very fast even though they are not breaking any record and does not provide us with up to a speed of 1000 Mbps as stated on their website.
Excellent Refund Policy
One thing I have come to realize about SSLPrivateProxy is that they have trust in their proxies. Many providers will provide you a money-back guarantee that even before you finish trying out their proxies, the guarantee period is over, and you are left with either the proxies working for you or it doesn’t. In the case of SSLPrivateProxy, they provide an excellent refund policy that provides you a money-back guarantee within 7 days of using their service.
While this is seen as excellent, they fail to provide free trials. However, because of the period of time, we can say their refund policy makes up adequately for their lack of free trials.
Multiple Authentication Method Allowed
There are two methods of authentication used in the proxy industry – the Username/password Authentication and IP Authentication. The Username/password Authentication is straight forward and the most popular form of authentication online.
The IP Authentication is more peculiar to the proxy industry and a host of other smaller industries. IP Authentication entails registering IPs that can use the proxies you got. If you try using the proxy on a computer that its IP hasn’t been whitelisted, you are denied access. SSLPrivateProxy provides support for the two methods of authentication.
While it is tempting to just go over to their website with your credit card or PayPal detail and order one of their packages, I will advise you to wait and read this cons section. There are some not so nice aspects of SSLPrivateProxy you have to be aware of. Some of these are discussed below.
Prices are Somehow Expensive
I know, SSLPrivateProxyis a premium provider and their proxies are secure, reliable, and fast. However, they are considered expensive when you compared their prices with other datacenter providers. In fact, their proxies become more expensive when you pay for their smaller packages. Take, for instance, on their website homepage; they claimed that the price of their private proxies starts from $1.75.
That’s just a marketing gimmick. $1.75 comes into play if you are buying their big plans, but for the smaller ones, you aren’t getting anything close to that. In fact, their smallest plan sells for $15 and comes with 5 proxies – making the price of a proxy in this plan $3. For their other specialized proxies like Classified Ads and Social Media proxies, they are equally expensive. However, some will argue that the price is worth it considering the reliability you will enjoy.
I leave your pocket to be the judge here. Unfortunately, they do not offer a free trial, and you have to pay to use their service to know if they are the best for you. If, after paying you are not satisfied with the service you got, you can ask for a refund within 3 days of using their service, and you will get your money back.
Slow Customer Support
Customer support is one aspect of a business a company shouldn’t play with. It is expected that a customer should get help whenever he needs it because frankly, not all persons have the patience to wait for long. While SSLPrivateProxy provides an excellent service as per their proxies, they have a lot of room for improvement in the area of customer support. They have a knowledgebase area that discusses how customers can best use their proxies.
However, when a customer needs to speak to their customer rep, such a customer has to make use of the support ticket feature – no live chat feature. Even though they respond to customers query as fast as they get the ticket, it is slow sometimes when you factor in the time zone considerations. If they can introduce live chat support, it would have been better.
Do I Recommend SSLPrivateProxy?
Take this from me and take it to the bank – no proxy provides is 100 percent perfect. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, and SSLPrivateProxy is not an exception. What to look out for is how important is the strength and weaknesses they have to your use case.
For SSLPrivateProxy, they have got all the major things a good proxy provider should have. Their major problems lie in their expensive pricing and slow customer support. These can be overlooked in many cases, and as such, I recommend them.
